It has been always told that 'focus on one thing' that is what you passionate about. Otherwise, you gonna lose all.But what if a man is passionate about multiple things and he has not much time to focus in separately to each one. Is he going to fail?- Indeed yes but, not always if he doesn't lose against failure.
Elon Reeve Musk a South African born, considered as a citizen of Canada and United States (current), is the founder and CEO of SpaceX; co-founder and CEO of Tesla; founder and CEO of Neuralink; co-founder and chairman of SolarCity; co-chairman of OpenAI; co-founder of Zip2 and innovator of Hyperloop. well, he is also parenting his six kids.
At the age of 12, he taught himself to code and sold a game called Blastar he created, to a magazine in $500. An online version of the game is available here...
Now, this is how Elon Musk started his passionate career.In 1995, Elon with his brother started a company called Zip2. In 1999, zip2 acquired by Compaq for US$307 million, from which Musk received about $22 million.
With his $10 million from the zip2 sale, he started a new company called X.com (By merging with another company Confinity, it was renamed to PayPal). In 2002 PayPal acquired by eBay for about $1.5 billion, from which Musk received about $165 million.
From that money, he invested in Tesla and SpaceX that led him to ran out of money, and he borrowed money from his friend to pay his living rents. In 2001 he traveled to Moscow to buy refurbished ballistic missiles to send payloads into space. He failed and returned empty-handed. In 2002 he returned again to Moscow and were offered one rocket for about $8 million. But, it was too expensive so he thought to make his own rocket to fulfill his need. In may 2002, With $100 million he founded Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX).
Since it was founded in 2002, it started growing rapidly from 160 employees in 2002 to 6,000 employees in 2017.In 2004 company had the major goal to develop a reusable launch system to reduce the cost of rocket launches. As planned company started working to land a rocket way back on Earth, and that hasn't been done by any space agencies in the world before.After failing continuously, SpaceX finally landed an orbital rocket's first stage (Falcon 9 Flight 20) on December 22, 2015. It was a historic moment in the world to land a rocket successfully back on earth. Cause' it wasn't done by any other space agencies before.Here are some Landmark achievements of SpaceX
Tesla was initially founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in 2003. In 2004, Musk invested series A by joining Tesla's board of chairman. In 2008, Musk accepted as CEO and product architect for Tesla. Tesla started building electric cars since 2008 with Tesla Roadster as the first electric sports car. As of 2016 Musk own about 20% of company shares.
Elon Musk also founded SolarCity, and SolarCity is now the second largest provider of solar power systems in the United States.Elon Musk had failed much time in his life, even his Inspirational heroes like Neil Armstrong, Eugene Cernan, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson all opposed to SpaceX. But, he proves his intention about how he is shaping the future of the earth.
There was a time when Tesla was running out of money and SpaceX failed to reach orbit, and in another side, he was also suffering from the divorce of his first wife.
He is also working on few other future projects like Hyperloop, OpenAI, The Boring Company and Neuralink.
